The client’s clock is carefully examined to identify problems. This includes:
- Checking if the weights are in the correct order
- Ensuring the chime and strike run in the proper sequence
- Verifying if the pendulum is hung correctly and has an even beat
- Inspecting the oil condition and checking if the clock is level
- Examining closely the movement, pivots, and bushings for wear
